The Calm Before The Storm

The world will never be the same!

Master Vendari,

It always seems that when told to get my affairs in order that these are the times I write to you.

I have wanted to pen you a letter for ages now, but my quill always seems to resist this unless there is serious trouble ahead. Since plans are being made and everyone was told to tie up any loose ends, that this is one of those times.

So much has happened since I joined the Veba Guardsmen in Quin Long. Life has been a series of fast moves followed by long pauses. I have been living on an enormous skyship, travelled by magic, been made an official resident of the lands beyond the sand wall…so much in such a short period of time.

The group is currently making ready for a mission that I cannot provide you many details at this time. Just know that if you are current on the pigeon news then you may get some clues as to what is happening.

I know you always said I thrived in danger…and observing fashion, but I will tell you that I have actually made a close friend, a dwarf named Graegga. You would enjoy her company very much, as I have in the last weeks. She tells tales of royal celebrations, expeditions into the earth, and surviving alone in the wilderness. It is a mystery how one of her young years has lived so much.

Graegga is an accomplished artisan and after seeing one of her etchings I am copying her idea. We are creating a pictorial account of my life on the coins of the hip belt you gave me when I completed my tutelage with you. The stories for some of the coins I have shared with her, others I just described what the scene should look like. It brings me joy, laughter and sadness to complete the little coins. If things to do go the way I hope in this upcoming mission I want you to hold the belt in trust for me, until my sister Trai-lein finishes her time with you. Hopefully I will be able to give it to her myself, but either way I know you will do this for me.

The group and the crew are all in different states of mind these last days, some scared, some solemn, some excited, but all seen to understand the serious dangers that are coming in the days ahead.
I hope this letter finds you well. Take care of my sister and keep her mind on her studies for me as well.

As always,

Sent on the highsun of the 15th of Hordad, 10,002 A.T.

Great splash of character! Make me want to peel back all the layers of onion put on this page. Great work! The closer we get to Drodd the more I know we will need this Veba Guardsmen.
